The Alpaca Song: Actually on the Radio · 23 March 06

Yes, The Alpaca Song. Ridiculous, I know.

And you can listen. Thursday, Mar. 23, during KZZU’s Lunch With Sunshine, from 1-3pm PACIFIC time, US.

That’s 4-7pm EST. Streaming at kzuu.org.

How I learned of this:

Um, yeah, I’m that Saleem :)

You gotta explain how you know about the Alpaca Draft. That’s hilarious.

That is so wonderfully awesome! I love that song!

My husband sent it to me – he got it from a site, I think it was called “Robots.com” [music.for-robots.com]? Does that sounds familiar? IT’s funny, because when my husband and I had our first “date” we found our “bond” in our common interest in the strange phenomena of alpaca farming.

Any how- I’ve played your song on my radio show. I DJ two hours a week for our local college station. ;) I’m DJ Sunshine at www.kzuu.org. I’ll try to bring in your song again this Thursday, if I can find it, and play it again. My show is every Thursday from 1-3 PM (pacific time in the U.S.)

By-the-way… are you in Japan right now? I think I read that on your profile. I loved Japan!!! I was there last September. Man… I’ve never eaten so much fish before, and I wasn’t complaining.

It’s so nice to meet you… one of the authors of such a great song ;)

Peace and Blessings, and Happy Naw Ruz!

So show Amanda Rainbow Sunshine some love. For she digs seafood and alpacas.

  1. The Alpaca song didn’t get me that job, you know, but it’s nice to know that the Alpaca song is getting YOU the radio love.

    Best to you! Alpacas RULE.

  2. Saleem, that is so awesome and weird at the same time. I am very excited that the Alpaca song will be getting some air play. I will do my best to listen for it tonight. Hope everything else is going as well.

  3. Was there ever any doubt we were in the prescence of greatness? I’ve pretty much known that since the 7th grade.
    andy    2247 days ago    #

  4. Pam: Maybe “Mucus vs. Phlegm” will help with your next job search?

Others: When Andy says “greatness”, he means “scrawniness.” When it comes to scrawniness, there’s no doubt: Pretty much the same since 7th grade.
    saleem    2247 days ago    #

  5. Andy often confuses the terms “great” and “waif”. He means no disrespect.
    Byzek    2247 days ago    #

  6. Waif is a term of endearment. That’s actually a fact, I looked it up.
    andy    2247 days ago    #

  7. Is anybody planning on going to our reunion on July 28th? Looks a bit pricey at $78 a person.
    Cory    2246 days ago    #

  8. Sadly, if you include travel costs, it’sround $1,278 a person.

    But go! I want stories.

(and, um, there’s still a chance I might end up there myself… we’ll see)
    saleem    2243 days ago    #

  9. Eh, you have a couple of months to start up a Fly Saleem Back Home fund raiser.

I added the Alpaca Song on a mix tape for IMP, so it’s international now.
    Mel    2243 days ago    #

  10. $78 is pricey to me too. I’m sure we could figure out a better way to spend $78.

And if we expand the amount to $1,278, we can all have a much much better time.
    andy    2242 days ago    #

  11. All I know is y’all better tell me if none of y’all are gonna show up at this thing. Because it’s gonna suck to spend $78 to hang out by myself. I’m pretty sure I don’t value my own company at more than a buck fifty…
    dan    2242 days ago    #

  12. Hmmm, providing loose change for that extra $.50 is kind of a pain—what if we just round down to $1?

I like Andy’s idea—let’s drop $1278 on cheap liquor and cheaper women. Now that is a reunion!
    Byzek    2242 days ago    #

  13. I think the Alpaca song should BE the fundraiser. We couldn’t do better than that!

I say let’s use the $1278 each to rent an island and frolic for a few days. It’s not like we’re going to come away from the reunion with tans and margarita-soaked memories.

(Okay fine, Saleem has the tan down, but the rest of us are screwed.)
    maggie    2242 days ago    #

  14. Saleem’s tan is fake, straight out of the bottle. Don’t believe the hype.
    andy    2241 days ago    #

  15. I thought he looked a little orange. Thank you so much for solving that fantastically difficult conundrum for me, Andy.
    Mel    2241 days ago    #

  16. Mel: What’s IMP? International Mix-tape Project? If so, rad.

Reunion: I may have just scored a free ticket to America through an elaborate English-tutoring trade, so don’t count me out yet. Will keep you updated. If I can pull it off, you local kids better be there to smile at my jet-lagged self.

Others: Man, have you guys seen my brother? That’s a quality tan dude for you. Skin like a Banana Boat girl.

  18. BECCA:
From your link: “I am from Bolivia and I would like to show you very nice and warm sweathers from alpaca. ”
Man, that was like the best pick up line ever. I gotta use that one sometime.
    saleem    2240 days ago    #

  19. YAY!!!!!!!! Reunion is officially ON!!!!!!!!!
    maggie    2240 days ago    #

  20. Saleem, if you are @ the reunion I’ll feel like I have to go.

    I’m torn on this.
    andy    2239 days ago    #

  21. What’s with all this peer pressure to goto the reunion, anyhow? If high school taught us nothing else, it taught us that peer pressure is EVIL.

But maybe we’re not peers anymore, so the pressure becomes acceptable…maybe even welcome…

    I feel strangely aroused now.
