An Odd and Brilliant Baking Instruction. Or Rather: The Earlobe That Knew When to Quit · 20 November 06

While preparing sweets for the festival lunch, the uniformed child kneaded the dough. A high scool teacher looked on.

‘I can’t tell, how firm should it be?’ said the uniformed child. *

The teacher tilted her head to the side and and looked at the dough, ‘It should be as firm as your earlobe,’ she said.

The uniformed child pulled a hand from the dough. She reached up and felt her own earlobe.

‘Oh, okay,’ she said.

And everything turned out delicious.

* Roughly translated from Japanese, of course.
