The Hundred Legs That Want You Dead
The Mukade (Japanese Centipede)

Spotted on the steps of Honmyouji in Kumamoto. Yes, they bite, and, yes, they will hospitalize you.

BONUS

The Leaf That Wouldn't Fall, 2

A brief illusion concerning spiderwebs, fingers and leaves.

  1. During all my years in Nihon, I never ONCE saw an actual mukade. Thank you for this. I now know they do indeed exist are not merely wives’ tales from inaka JETs. They look extremely “spicy”.

And I’m digging the “bonus” photo as well. That hand and leaf against the blue-grey colored sky, with just a tinge of green shining off the tree up top is unbelievable.
