Quick Note: Saleem is Not Dead · 8 September 04

Over the past few days, Japans been hit by a couple of earthquakes, some tsunami, and a vicious typhoon.

This is just a note to let you know I’m still here. The quakes and tidal waves didn’t affect Kyushu, but the typhoon ripped up some shops and cut off our power and telephone service for a good while.

It also blew some pieces off my apartment complex. I’m fine, though.

Everything’s just a bit delayed.

Cleaning up at home and back at work today. Tomorrow I’ll post pictures and a tiny video (!) of my garbage can taking flight.

  1. You should throw in some appropriate music and make your flying garbage can video the opening and closing metaphysically inspirational and physic(s)ally confounding moments in the one-upped new version of American Beauty. I suppose if it was a commentary on the Japanese psyche it could just be called “Japanese Beauty”. Or if it was more self-reflective, it could quite simply be titled “The Beauty of that Lebanese, Japanese, Indian White Kid, the Party all Night Kid…”

  2. I’m actually thinking about making a mini-movie starring a plastic giraffe I found. Any plot ideas would be welcome.
